‘No distraction Policy’ (example):
During Stand-by periods/ 500 m zone operations, in areas when
navigation is critical or traffic is heavy

Non-essential personnel should be prohibited from the bridge/navigation
area
Officers of Watch / Dynamic Positioning officers and other critical
Bridge team members should refrain from completing routine non-essential
paperwork or other tasks that may lead to task distraction
The use of personal computers (laptops/tablets) on the bridge by key
navigation watch keeping staff should be prohibited
The use of mobile and satellite phones on the bridge / navigation area
should be prohibited
The use of radios (entertainment), MP3 players or CD players on the
bridge/navigation area should be prohibited
