The electrocoating method is in the form of an electrolysis in which the electrodes play a larger role than conducting current. Using an electric current, you can coat the metal of one electrode with the metal of another! While jewelry and silverware can be silver or gold plated, zinc uses an iron coating to protect against rust.
How should we do?
Pour some Copper Sulphate and hot water into a beaker and mix it with baguette until it dissolves. Our solution should be dark blue. Then let it cool down.
Use a crocodile cable to connect the copper electrode to the positive part( anode) of the battery. Use the crocodile cable with the other end to connect the key or nail to the negative part of the battery( cathode).
Place the copper electrode in the solution. Make sure that the copper sulphate solution is under the crocodile cables. Now an electrical circuit has occurred and the current is flowing.
Leave the circuit running for 50-60 minutes or until you are satisfied with the amount of copper in the coated material.
