The electrocoating method is in the form of an electrolysis in which the electrodes play a larger role than conducting current . Using an electric current , you can coat the metal of one electrode with the metal of another ! While jewelry and silverware can be silver or gold plated , zinc uses an iron coating to protect against rust .
How should we do ?
Pour some Copper Sulphate and hot water into a beaker and mix it with baguette until it dissolves . Our solution should be dark blue . Then let it cool down .
Use a crocodile cable to connect the copper electrode to the positive part ( anode ) of the battery . Use the crocodile cable with the other end to connect the key or nail to the negative part of the battery ( cathode ).
Place the copper electrode in the solution . Make sure that the copper sulphate solution is under the crocodile cables . Now an electrical circuit has occurred and the current is flowing .
Leave the circuit running for 50-60 minutes or until you are satisfied with the amount of copper in the coated material .
