ave you ever met someone who exudes professionalism , knowledge , and compassion and who left such an impression on you that you want to be a better person ? I have met many such people over the course of my life , and I am honoured to present to you one of them , Stephen Benson , President and CEO of Benson Steel ( Concord , ON ). Stephen has been one of those people who makes you feel like you are the only person in the room and super special . He is the inspiration behind the concept of this issue : strength in self and strength in numbers . His firsthand experience of a cyberattack at his organization left him with some motivating words for all of us on how to protect your company , and yourself , before it ’ s too late . Did I mention he is also an Ironman Triathlete ? No ? Well , read his uplifting story on his start in the Ironman . I can also personally attest that Stephen is a truly likeable person and personifies Dr . Travis Bradberry ’ s article on the 13 habits of truly likeable people .
To continue the theme of cyber awareness , I interviewed the lovely Martin McVicar , cofounder and CEO of COMBiLiFT , at his impressive facility in Monaghan , Ireland , about his thoughts on cybersecurity . I think you may just agree with how he feels about it ! We also help you discover five ways to prevent identity theft , because we know that security breaches are happening now more than ever and there are ways to protect yourself . In staying with our digital theme , we reveal the truths about your digital audience and how to snuff out those marketing myths , because online marketing provides something for everyone . With all of this cyber stuff , sometimes we just need to get away from it all . In this issue , we help you discover ways to unplug to recharge !
We celebrate some of our members who have hit milestones this year : Merrill Steel , Quirion Métal , Structures d ’ Acier Cartier Ltée ., Acier Métaux Spec , and Acier Trimax . Each of these fabricators are original members of SPN , and we are proud to shout out their incredible milestones !
Finally , I ’ m getting a little bit more personal in this issue . I ’ m sharing my love of reading with everyone in a personal essay about self-discovery as well as my love of baking with a delicious Brussels-style Belgian Waffle recipe that will leave you longing to join us in May 2023 at our annual convention in Brussels ! As a bonus trip , we are jumping across the English Channel , over the United Kingdom , and heading to Ireland and Castle Leslie for a few days of team building and Irish traditions before we tour the aforementioned incredible COMBiLiFT facility in Monaghan .
Being part of Steel Plus Network definitely has its rewards , and networking is one of them . We cannot wait to get together again for the many events we have planned this year and next . Will you join us ? +
