For some of us , it may be that working out how to get from a remote village to an airport and then back home without a phone , money , or passport is the adventure holiday of a lifetime . However , if that doesn ’ t appeal to you , make sure that you have a way to contact loved ones ( and for them to send you money !) if something goes wrong . +
Whether you ’ ve already got friends out in Brazil or are looking to get to know someone in North Wales before you arrive , having a bit of local knowledge on your side is invaluable . Not only can this information tell you things that tourist guides often do not but they can also help you get a genuine firsthand experience of the culture and the community that you ’ re visiting . Staying for at least one night with a local family will set your adventure apart from a normal tourist holiday . However , be extremely careful and take sensible precautions . Use verified websites which use authentic vetting procedures . Bear in mind that there are shady characters in all parts of the world and due caution may save your life .
