Steel Notes Magazine October 2016 Show Review ALLENTOWN FAIRGROUNDS KISS 2016 FREEDOM TO ROCK TOUR By Alexxis Steele @ ALLENTOWN FAIRGROUNDS SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 Photos by Bernadette Marcantoni Hard rocking, Hall Of Fame , theatrical band Kiss, had not stepped foot in the Lehigh Valley since appearing at Bethlehem’s Stabler Arena back in 1992, and their Allentown Fairground show on Thursday September 1st, certainly did not disappoint their fans. The many legions of Kiss fans showed up in support for of their 2016 Freedom to Rock Tour, and were greeted by Paul Stanley, who quoted that the band had some catching up to do. I had personally only seen Kiss live once back in 1997, when they were in full makeup at the Core States Spectrum, but in those nosebleed seats they looked like tiny dolls on stage. This time I had a much better view of the band and was in for a real treat. Opening song “Detroit Rock City”, showed the crowd that these two sixty something guys still have the goods and can rock their fans with the fervor of a twenty year old! The band pulled out all of the stops, from Gene’s fire breathing and dripping blood to Eric Singer’s levitating drum kit and Paul Stanley’s effortless flying from the stage over the crowd to a revolving platform by the sound board.
