MBW : ... and do you have any champions ??? ... are there any certain musicians you hold above the rest ???
Don : I find some something of interest in all musicians ... Some of my ' champions ' would certainly include David Bowie , John Lennon , Chrissie Hynde , Ray Davies , Jimmy Page , Eric Clapton , Bob Dylan , Keith Richards , and all my contemporary artist .
MBW : Do you have any originals and if so who writes the songs ???
Andrew : I am a huge fan of RockaBilly and early 70 ’ s Glam & Punk . So I have always gravitated to the raw edgy musicians , the Killer Jerry Lee Lewis , Little Richard , Gene Vincent , Eddie Cochran , Stooges , NY Dolls , Suzi Quatro , T . Rex , AC / DC , Heartbreakers , the Damned , Sex Pistols , & Misfits to name a few .
Andrew : Well Marlowe as a matter of fact we do have originals ... all of them , ha !!! Don & I write the Black Cats NYC ’ s material .
MBW : I just now found out that Marlowe B West Takez Manhattan & The Brooklyn Hornz will be playing at the Sidewalk NYC on October 28th in celebration of the release of “ Gone !” the Black Cats NYC ’ s new EP . I ' d like to be the first to congratulate you ... Makes my head spin to think of being in that awesome position ... How does it feel having a ' record ' coming out ???
BC : Thanks Marlowe , it feels GREAT ! We want to also thank you for kicking off a great night with all of our pals celebrating the release of “ Gone !” We also have the Alan Merrill Trio , The Lord Calverts , Red Gretchen and King Bee & the Stingers ! Our dear friend , Anne Husick , really put together a great night !!!
MBW : Why don ' t you tell us all about your EP / CD ... and where and when it can be found ???
BC : the EP / CD is called “ Gone !” and it consists of 3 songs : 1 ) She Got What I Need ; 2 ) Too Far Gone ; & 3 ) Psychotic Whisper . The great Alan Rand engineered it at Black Cat Studio and he did an AMAZ- ING job , he really captured the sound of the band ! We have all the elements , Don ’ s dirty leads ; Andrew ’ s steady groove ; Jason ’ s relentless beats ; Deanna & Julie ’ s hypnotic harmonies ; Gass & Seaton ’ s dead-on Tambourine & Sax ; and we even have Alex Giordano on the Piano !!!
