In last month ’ s issue of Steel Notes , I was pleased to be able to share my excitement with readers in my review of “ Desperate ”, the latest LP from one of the very best punk rock bands on the scene today , Barb Wire Dolls . Recently , I was thrilled to have the chance to discuss music , life and art via e-mail with the band ’ s lead singer , Isis Queen , a vocalist whose powerful and vivid self-expression on stage and on record is easily matched by her depth , candor and intelligence in conversation . It ’ s an honour to share the following exclusive interview with Steel Notes Magazine readers .
Q : How did the band form ? How and when did the Dolls add rhythm guitarist Remmington to the line up ?
Isis : The band formed out of complete disgust for the music that was out there . So instead of complaining about it , we decided to start our own band and do the type of music that we liked . All these years later and we are still lone wolves in a market that is plummeting on bands copying one another and following a recipe . When we recorded our debut album with Steve Albini , that put us on the map . We were a 2 piece musically where ( guitarist ) Pyn Doll would
