ROB ZOMBIE / SANDS EVENT CENTER
Everybody’s
Messing with
UFOs

It was a sunny and warm day. No actual opening
band was listed on the show bill. Ginger Fish,
Rob Zombie’s drummer, came out to DJ. He
spun some old tunes like classic Van Halen, Primus and some Nine Inch Nails. He was dancing
around and holding his head but not really going along with the music. The fans tried to get
into it, but it was just not interesting enough to
hold the attention of the crowd. In today’s rock
culture where radio and record labels support
a very small amount of new rock and metal
music, it honestly would have been nice to
expose an opening act people would become
new fans of, rather than just having a DJ.

Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera. The lights
went dark and the music was turned high. Then John
5 and Piggy D hit the stage. All of a sudden Rob
Zombie appeared. They were all dressed in what
seemed to be gold. The music started playing for the
first song, “Dead Radio.” Everyone started jamming
out to it. It was followed up by “Superbeast.” Rob
Zombie started bringing out alien sex dolls which
he sent out to surf around the crowd. He then
played a long lost song dating back to the White
Zombie era called “Real Solution #9” which he
hasn’t played in over 20 years.
