Beethoven’s music can be used throughout science integrated
lessons. When studying the moon, children read the text “moon
phases, moon phases” placed on moon cut-outs. They then put
the phases of the moon in order while listening and tapping the
macro beat. (MU:Pr4.2.2b When analyzing selected music, read
and perform rhythmic and melodic patterns using iconic or
standard notation)
I then ask them to “hear” that while I play a bit of Moonlight
Sonata. The children whisper the ostinato text to the music. We
then watch one of the many videos on YouTube showing
awesome moon pictures. My favorite is https://
