What does your artistic process look like ?
It really depends what I ’ m creating but typically speaking I am more of an analytical creator . I layout where I want to go and I look for pathways there , look for variations within and I see what sparks my interests . I know some artists that work very intuitively , they sit down at the table to create and see what comes out . The only time I ’ m able to do that is when I ’ m doodling . But for the most part my work is methodically planned .
So what does that look like ? It looks like me going on a walk thinking about a task at hand and coming up with many possible answers . Then going through each of them until I have a solution that seems like it can work . From there I decide if I want to create the project and if I do I charge on ! Then the process gets messy , smelly , loud , or whatever experience the material provides .
How do you merge STEAM into your art ?
I feel as though art is a fantastic melding place for all information we gain through education . In college I actually never took an art class because I was always more interested in learning about other things and how they could impact or could be visualized in my art . I find myself constantly calling on the core disciplines in my work .
What excites you most about art and technology ?
The potential . I hope it can open us up to more information more quickly and not become a mode of homogenization .
