From the Field UNPREDICTABILITY A Teaching Artist’s Perspective on STEAM Partnerships IN THE OVERLAP ZONES BY JEFF MATHER STEAM education means more than simply adding Art to STEM. STEAM PBL (Project Based Learning) at Drew Charter School in Atlanta has taken many forms and generated many surprises. The nature of true partnership is that the results are unpredictable. STEAM learning models challenge educational reform concepts that push for templates and predictability. I’ve served over 120 schools as a teaching artist, mostly visiting for want to know what they are going to “get”.
