Why use a TECO?
In most hydroponics systems, the ideal water temperature needs to be between 18 °C and 22°C
in order to ensure maximum nutrient efficiency and protection from pathogens. In hydroponics,
the temperature of water and its oxygen content are closely related. Plants roots require good
oxygen levels to grow, and water can hold more oxygen at lower temperatures. At extreme low
water temperatures (10 °C), the roots go into shock, but if temperatures exceed 25°C, levels of
dissolved oxygen decrease.
In indoor grow areas, the environment can get very warm due to artificial lights, heaters or
bad ventilation, especially during hot season. For these reasons, a TECO is the only solution.
