MYCORRHIZAE
WHAT IS IT?
In nature, more than 90 percent of plant species form a
symbiotic arrangement with beneficial soil fungi called
mycorrhizae. After roots are colonized by mycorrhizae, threads
or “hyphae” develop and can extend far into the surrounding
soil environment (figure). Mycorrhizae are fundamental for
superior plant performance, helping supply the water and
nutrients needed for superior development, flowering and
fruiting. In exchange, they receive essential sugars and
other compounds supplied by the plant. In nature, these
mycorrhizal fungi enhance the surface absorbing area of
roots 10 to 1,000 times, thereby greatly enhancing the ability
of the plants to utilize nutrients and water. They also release
powerful compounds into the surrounding environment which
can capture nitrogen, phosphorous, magnesium, iron and
other plant nutrients. This extraction process is particularly
important in plant vigor, flowering and fruiting and explains
why mycorrhizal inoculations have been so successful.

These tiny filaments called “hyphae” absorb
nutrients and water more efficiently than roots
alone.
The science is clear. The key to strong and vital plants starts with a vigorous
root system and a vigorous root system starts with Great White®!
