and runners can not only get in shape but do so while enjoying the birds , squirrels and other wildlife that make their homes there .
The paths can be accessed either from the South Central entrance or the one located on South Main Street . The South Main entrance is closer to two of the park ’ s newest features , the Readers to Leaders Storybook Trail and the city ’ s second handicapaccessible playground called Fischer Fun Park 2 .
While still under construction at the time of writing , Fischer Fun Park 2 promises to be a fun-filled playground with swings slides and more that can be utilized by anyone , even those who require a wheelchair or walker for mobility .
It is similar to one that opened in 2018 at SomerSport park , only this one is within walking distance of downtown .
The surface of the park is made with a pour-in-place rubber compound which is easy for wheelchairs to maneuver on but is also soft enough for kids who may fall when getting off of swings or slides .
Families can also find the entrance to Rocky Hollow ’ s version of the Readers to Leaders trail , where an entire children ’ s book can be read , page by page , as the family follows the path .
This particular trail is named after Mrs . Robyn Gifford Cheuvront , a kindergarten teacher who instilled a love of reading into hundreds of students over a 30-year career .
The trail is one of several around Pulaski County , with almost every community park hosting a trail with a different book . There are instillations at Eubank Park , Cole Park in Burnside , Woodstock Park , Firebrook Park , Shopville Park and White Lily Park as well .
When the Rocky Hollow Storybook Trail was unveiled , the debut book was considered a special surprise as it was written by Gwyn Morgan , an 11-yearold from the central Kentucky town of Salvisa who is battling an aggressive form of brain cancer . Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation ’ s Ohio , Kentucky & Indiana branch , Morgan was able to realize her dream of becoming the published author of a book that could bring other children joy when it ’ s read to them the way her father read to her .
Books are changed every quarter , so families are encouraged
