Gold Star Chili serves the ‘ Ohio Navy ’ and local fans alike

Every year , the “ Ohio Navy ” as it ’ s called — the fleet of boats and vehicles coming down from the Buckeye State — descends upon the waters of Lake Cumberland .
In return , Somerset serves up a little taste of Ohio to help them feel right at home .
Gold Star Chili has been doing business in Pulaski County since 1993 , serving up Cincinnati-style chili for locals and tourists alike .
One of the major Cincinnatiarea purveyors of this unique brand of chili , mild and sweet and typically served over spaghetti noodles , the chain started in the southern Ohio city by the Jordanian-immigrant Daoud brothers in 1965 . The founders based their menu on a secret family chili recipe featuring 13 blended spices .
