Meet Kevin Technical Engineer Kevin Buckland is responsible for ensuring electronic security equipment is connected to the Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) and runs smoothly. Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance, Kevin is experienced in: • • • • CCTV systems Intruder detection systems Access control systems Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems • First Aid. The opportunity to use my knowledge and be hands-on, while meeting people from all walks of life in businesses of all shapes and sizes. It’s so rewarding seeing the look on customer’s faces when we resolve issues. What’s the most challenging part of your job? Never quite knowing what the next call is going to be and what you’re going to encounter. Being prepared is crucial, though it’s hard work lugging tools around! Is there more to the job than meets the eye? For sure. It’s more than fixing a few cables and checking equipment. As Team Leader, I’m responsible for managing a crew of engineers, as well as myself (no easy feat). You need to be a smart and quick decision-maker with a calm head. Thinking strategically and planning ahead is as important as having the skills to communicate effectively with your team and customers.
