PUPILS’ READINESS FOR SCHOOL 3 School leaders have shed new light on the scale of the task faced by teachers, with only a small minority telling us that all pupils join their school at or above the level of school-readiness they would expect. A lack of preparedness for school is more prevalent in primary settings than secondary, and while there are some differences in the most common reasons for this at each phase, poor self-help skills are apparent across both phases.
