indicate that repetitive thoughts over time become physical ruts
in the brain that affect your reasoning, choices, and eventually
your beliefs. That is why Satan tries so hard to influence what
you think. He knows that once you are convinced that your
thoughts are true, you will defend your actions even if they are
ungodly. Letting the Word of God take charge of your thought
life is the only answer to turning your thoughts into a godly
belief system that will change your actions
to
line up with the
will of God.
How do you do this? You do this by getting the Word of
God into your thought process and letting the power of His
truth work. When you put the truth of God's Word into the
process of repetitive thoughts and begin to spend more time
meditating on that truth than on the lies you have believed,
you will see change.
A great way to begin is to write down the lies that you listen
to or say every day about who you are and who God is. Then
go to the Bible to find the truths that counteract these false
beliefs. At the back of this book are some examples to get you
started. If you need help finding what you need in the Bible,
ask a trusted mature Christian friend to work with you on this.
Once you find the truths that God has for you, write them
down and begin to speak those truths out loud every day to
remove the lies from your mind. Continue this process, and
you will begin to see the power of God's Word. As it changes
your thoughts, your attitudes will change, and eventually you
will see a change in your behaviors.
You may ask, "What if I finally realize the lies I have believed,
but it's too hard to keep myself from slipping back into the old
way?" You're right-it's
not going to be a smooth ride. You will
