“In different ways” has been an interesting group exhibition held at Almine Rech Galler y last march including paintings by Justin Adian, John M Armleder, Will Boone, Joe Bradley, Günther Förg, Peter Halley, Simon Hantaï, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Erik Lindman, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Richard Prince, Julian Schnabel, Blair Thurman, Christopher Wool. Artists who work with different techniques related to the opportunities of painting. Each work is representative of a unique, formal language, rooted in paintings’ extensive history while also looking towards new possibilities and interpretations for the medium in the twenty-first century. This is really interesting because one of the most common clichés of contemporary art is to consider the painting a medium out dated to represent the contemporary complexity. In this sense, the photograph would be unrivaled in terms of accuracy of the representation, the computer would be incomparable in terms of precision in making pattern painting and finally video and performance would have the advantage of making more engaging relationship with the spectators. Fortunately, as often it happens, it is just a spot and this exhibition has been an important focus on the subject.
