Since its founding in 1873, Real Academia de Espana in Rome played a key role in formation of several generations of Spanish artists and intellectuals. Its primary goal is to provide the opportunity for Spanish, Latin and Italian creators with a promising trajectory or already established in their respective disciplines, to create their own project within the walls of the center, which is thus an international projection platform of Spanish, Latin American and Italian creative culture, and strengthening the cultural bond between the two countries and between Europe and America

The Real Academia de EspaƱa in Rome is a cultural platform and a center of production and artistic research located in the monumental complex of San Pietro in Montorio, in which stands the Temple of Bramante, architectural jewel of the Renaissance. It depends functionally and organically from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Secretariat of State for the International and for Latin American Cooperation, which is responsible for the coordination and, in accordance with the principle of uniqueness foreign policy, through the Embassy of Spain to the Italian Republic.
