Since its founding in 1873, Real Academia de Espana in Rome played a key role in formation of several generations of Spanish artists and intellectuals. The Real Academia de España in Rome is a cultural platform and a center of production and artistic research located in the monumental complex of San Pietro in Montorio, in which stands the Temple of Bramante, architectural jewel of the Renaissance. It depends functionally and organically from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Secretariat of State for the International and for Latin American Cooperation, which is responsible for the coordination and, in accordance with the principle of uniqueness foreign policy, through the Embassy of Spain to the Italian Republic.
