Life Stripe -- In search of the tempo of life
he mundane does not need to be dull. SPREAD Design
Duo find patterns in the everyday life of individuals. It is in
everyday routines where the 24 hours are recorded and colour
coded according to the different activities, such as eating and
grooming. Their process is similar to a research project, where
they do interviews or surveys. The respondents have the choice
to select which day of their life they would like to share. This
process in turn helps the respondent to memorise or recall a day
they had in the past. This concept forms the basis for Life Stripe –
abstract artworks created through the use of stripes or patterns
of colours. Additionally, the works are meant to be read across
from left to right, symbolizing the flow of time chronologically.
The audience is then invited to imagine and empathise with the
feelings associated with the various colours.
Think about:
How could we get our students to work on an individual or a
collective memory project that is meaningful to them?
