Provide Gateway for Students
Entering Financial Services Industry
To earn a degree in finance or economics, college
students can expect to spend countless hours hitting
the books. But some have discovered they can build
on their textbook lessons and gain valuable, real-world
experience by spending a semester interning alongside
experienced industry professionals at Securities America.
“At my previous internship, I worked under a financial
advisor,” said Lake Lapp, a finance and accounting major
at Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. “Now I’m on
the other side, learning how all the paperwork is applied.
I'm getting a better understanding of what Securities
America actually has to do for clients.”

For Tyler Schraeder, a triple major in finance, investment
banking and portfolio management at the University of
Nebraska at Omaha, time as a Securities America intern
proved to be an opportunity to learn and grow beyond
what he’d already learned in the classroom.
“There are so many supportive, great people here
who have helped me solidify what I want to do after
I graduate,” Schraeder said.
Jake Mueller, a finance major at the University of
Nebraska – Lincoln, was impressed by the types of
projects he was allowed to contribute to as an intern.
