On Sleep
Jared Nadin
To sleep would be a glorious thing.
To sleep a sleep not plagued
With dreams and too much waking,
A sleep where I may rest in peace,
Away from lights and streets
And all the windows shaking.
And yet I’m forced to sit and wait.
I’m forced by some old force
which forces me to ponder.
To ponder things I’d rather not
When’d rather I’d be sleeping,
Or, at least,
