Times Square
John Collins
the loneliness of chaos
wandering, searching for a sense of you
green shirt, wet lips
your eyes, we meet
car rides into the city bring memories
swarming at every intersection
how desperate my stay without you
even for the briefest time
a glass of water, minerals with ice
you hold firm as i lay trapped beneath you
times square at midnight
we will do it all again, if only a block or two
how pitiful my departure if i cannot see your face
disappear beyond a crowd once more
you think this is misery
it is elation and it is joy and this is why we rise
