ARTICLES Stimulus Material for depth studies, courtesy of Macquarie University Deep-sea sharks aren’t safe from fishing fleets Even in the most remote parts of the world’s oceans migratory sharks are in severe danger from industrial fishing fleets, new research reveals. In a paper published in the journal Nature, more than 150 scientists, including Professor Rob Harcourt from Macquarie University’s Department of Biological Sciences, uncover why large species inhabiting the open ocean account for over half of all identified sharks caught globally as fisheries targets or bycatch.
