Stanford’s inspired defensive effort fueled the Cardinal in a 60-57 victory
over No. 10/10 Kansas to survive the first weekend of March Madness and
advance to the Sweet 16. Four Cardinal players scored in double figures,
led by Dwight Powell’s 15 points. Josh Huestis shut down Andrew Wiggins,
who finished with just four points on 1-of-6 shooting. The projected NBA
lottery pick entered the game as Kansas’ leading scorer and was frustrated
by Stanford’s interior size all night.
