Stanford also enjoyed significant
individual success both on and off the court this
season. Four players reached the 1,000-career
point mark this year: Dwight Powell and
Chasson Randle against BYU and Anthony
Brown and Josh Huestis against New Mexico.
Powell and Randle also earned spots on the AllPac-12 First Team, while Huestis was named to
the All-Defensive Team. Anthony Brown was
voted the Most Improved Player in the
conference.
Six Stanford players were named to the
Pac-12 All-Academic team, a league-best and
the fifth season in a row that Stanford has
totaled the most selections of any school in the
conference. Brown, John Gage and Robbie
Lemons were named to the first team. Stefan
Nastic and Randle were second team picks, and
Powell earned honorable mention accolades.
Powell was also named the Pac-12 ScholarAthlete of the year, and he will graduate in June
with a degree in Science, Technology &
Society.

the Cardinal team and coaches gathered with

given for individual and statistical
accomplishments. The evening concluded with
each of the six seniors addressing the audience
and reflecting on their careers at Stanford. The
senior speeches are always touching and
heartfelt, and while these speeches are always
rooted in their basketball careers, they often
encompass much more.
Robbie Lemons
expressed an “overwhelming feeling of
gratitude” for his time and experiences at
Stanford, while Dwight Powell, an only child
whose mother passed away before the 2012-13
season, described how his definition of the word
“family” evolved during his time on the Farm.
John Gage told a story about a video session
with Coach O’Toole that quickly turned into an
hour-long discussion of The Old Man and the
Sea – a meeting, he said, that helped him at that
moment more than any film session could have.
As it does every year, H
