of receiving your degree. Talk a little about that and how you decided on your major.

Freshh: I received my Associates in Marketing because marketing is basically what I would do with my music so it was only logical to me; plus marketing covers things such as fashion, sports, business, media almost everything I am interested in. Right now I am working on my bachelors in Criminal Justice to get in a field where I can help a lot of people who are misguided and wrongfully accused especially my brothers.

Brickhouse: With you being a hip hop artist, how important do you think school is in you furthering your career.

Freshh: Well school isn’t for everybody. Its important to me because its my only option out the hood, nobody in my family paved no way, I’m doing all the paving.

Brickhouse: In this issue of Standing Room Only Magazine, we are celebrating Black History Month. What did the election of the first black president mean to you?

Freshh: Well I was excited just like everyone else because he was a colored man but I was sad also because my grandma passed away and wasn’t able to witness it.

Brickhouse: In the pre interview you were discussing that you were looking to get more involved in helping the community. Talk a bit about some of the things you are planning to do.

Freshh: Join groups that would like to give back to the community. I would help the best way I can just being out there with all the people.

Brickhouse: Transitioning into your music, how would you describe yourself as an artist?

Freshh: I’m not a follower. I make the music that would make you bounce like Bow Wow [laughs].

Brickhouse: What do you think of the current state of hip hop?

Freshh: It's trash, not all the new rappers, but the majority of them are trash.

Brickhouse: It’s been awhile since you released your last mixtape Picoso. Are you currently working on any new music?

Freshh: Yeah I'm working on new music. The first mixtape was a pilot, didn’t spread it out much because I know I could do better.

Brickhouse: What’s next for Jamaica JFreshh?

Freshh: More work more school just trying to stay afloat and come in at the right time, no rush for me. Greatness takes time.

Brickhouse: You had an incident in a club with Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson. Tell the readers what happened that night.

Freshh: I was in the club turning up as usual causing a scene, Klay came down to the bar where I was [sitting]saying he thought I was Chris Johnson so we both were laughing then he asked where I was from. I said Miami he said yeah I know you wasn’t from here then we took a pic. That’s all. All I can say is real recognize real. He knew I wasn’t a lame and I aint even rich yet!

Brickhouse: It’s been a pleasure talking with you today. Before I cut you loose, going to play a quick game with you. I'm going to ask a few simple questions and you reply with the first thing that comes to mind.

Brickhouse: If I could collaborate with any artist living or dead it would be..

Freshh: Drake, he the biggest thing out right now.

Brickhouse: Any woman I date must….

Freshh: Have good hygiene.

Brickhouse: I prefer listening to music or making music?

Freshh: Making.

Brickhouse: Jamaica JFreshh is….

Freshh: A Phenom
