Opening One Mind At a time
Hailing from the "Windy City" Ronnie Holliday continues to push the evelope of creativity in search of new ways to deliver his message of positivity. Through music, ministry, speaking enagagments, and more recently podcasting, Ronnie Holliday continues to make strides for his hometown of Chicago exhibiting a positive example for both the youth and more mature adults. Ronnie took time out of his busy schedule to speak with me about his life as well as current endeavors.
Brickhouse: You are a man of many talents. Public speaking, gospel hip hop artist, and more currently podcasting. Talk a bit about each endeavor and how you became involved in each one.
Ronnie: I started out in the church I came to church on a dare from a friend of mine and stuck with it. I met some people who were explaining the truth in a way that was so real and relevant to me. I was involved with petty crime and was a part of a local rap group at the time so my life could have taken a number of directions. I always knew there was more to life and when I started going to church it really started my journey of understanding. In the church, I became involved with a lot of great people who believed in me and they gave me opportunities to explore my talents. I became a youth leader in the youth group and eventually a Youth Pastor. I started a Gospel Rap Group The Antiworld and
was able to take God’s work to places that it had not been before schools, prisons, community centers and concert stages. I started speaking as well as rapping at various events around the country. People were being blessed by little old me, a kid from Englewood who was a decision away from life or death. I met a lot of influential people in my travels who encouraged me and also challenged me to take my work to a higher level. I had been rapping and speaking for almost 15 years and I was thinking that I have done some pretty cool stuff over the years and wanted to create a platform to help others launch their talents and abilities. I used to listen to Podcasts and said to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool to have a platform like this for people and also give uplifting and encouraging affirmations as well”?
