themes kangaroo court garoo Court” day. One of our leaders had an awesome old man judge wig that she would wear and a gavel that she would wave around. The judge would then “charge” each girl with a crime and her punishment. Think of it as an awards ceremony, but with a funny twist. For example, and sorry if this is TMI, but one year I didn’t take a shower at camp. Not once! Gross eh? Well at Kangaroo Court I was charged with not taking a shower and being filthy. My punishment was that I had to put on a pair of clean underwear OVER my clothes so that I would remember to take a shower (they bought a new pair of un- activities campfire certification When we were at Girls Camp, the last day of camp was always designated as “Kan- crafts derwear at the store, don’t worry). This is something that your leaders would plan, but you could ask them about it if it sounds like something your Young Women’s group would enjoy. And again, remem- food ber that the crimes and punishments should all be kind and positive based on what kind of joke each girl can take. Some girls might never go back to Girls Camp if they had to strut around with a pair of underwear on top of their clothes. But I was ok with fun it. So just be wise. :) Some ideas for “crimes” that girls can be charged with: fashion spending the most time working on crafts giggling the most singing more than anyone else always losing their belongings being dressed too nice or cute for camp having the hairiest legs being a sleepy head being the loudest cheerleader of the bunch taking the longest to get ready each morning helping clean up having too much energy having the cleanest bunk/sleeping area being a nature lover having the most mosquito bites having the messiest hair journal songs • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • 39
