Book Review Being Sixteen by Ally Condie This is the year Juliet turns the magical age of sixteen. She is ready to embrace the glamour of dating and driving, finally getting everything she’s ever wanted. But of course her life ends up taking a twist… Juliet’s sister is hiding an eating disorder, her basketball team has an unforeseen change, the boy she likes…well, let’s not give too much away! Basically every aspect of Juliet’s life is turned upside down. Can she find a new path? Can Juliet support her family and friends while still standing strong herself? This was a great book about the reality of being a teenager - it’s hard! There are pressures to do well in school, look good, perform well on teams, and be there for your family. And though we imagine how things should work out, they don’t always turn out that way. And like Juliet, we can sometimes forget that God is with us.
