It’ s time!
“ Looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them.” Lucy Maud Montgomery, OBE( 1874 – 1942) Canadian author of Anne of Green Gables
As you read this editorial, the final preparations for Stainless Steel World Conference & Expo 2025 are taking place. On 18 – 20 November, the global stainless community will once again meet in beautiful Maastricht, the Netherlands( pictured below), to rekindle friendships, make new friends, exchange knowledge and experience and, of course, do business.
With a sold-out exhibition, we look forward to welcoming over three hundred companies from around the globe. The stand designs are finalised, the décor chosen, and the staff prepped on what to do. The conference speakers have practised their presentations one last time, nervously reading through their notes and tweaking slides. The networking dinner menu has been sampled and selected, speeches written, and seating plans worked out. As the last stand builders leave, a hush falls over the MECC’ s exhibition halls and conference rooms in anticipation of the world’ s premier gathering of the global stainless steel community. Until …
… thousands of visitors burst into the halls, filling the stands and conference rooms with chatter and excitement; a vibrant, bustling mass of people shaking hands, hugging friends, passing business cards and sharing stories. This is what we have waited for, and none will be disappointed. Astronaut Dr André Kuipers will amaze his audience with tales from outer space, material scientists will debate the merits of various studies, end users will share their problems and look for answers from exhibitors.
You’ ve waited two years to return to the home of the Stainless Steel World family, and we promise, you will not be disappointed! This month, we’ ve included the full Advance Conference Program in the magazine to help you plan your visit, from travel to hotel to floorplan, and you can also visit the event website for information: www. stainless-steel-world-event. com
This month, we welcome Sunmark Stainless to the cover. Based in Gujarat, India, Sun Mark operates across four manufacturing units spread over 100 acres of high-tech facilities. Together, these units employ around 1,500 people and have an annual installed production capacity of nearly 70,000 MT of stainless pipes, tubes, coils and butt weld fittings. Read about their remarkable journey as a family business from page 8.
I hope you enjoy the November issue of Stainless Steel World. I’ m always happy to hear your feedback and suggestions, so don’ t hesitate to get in touch!
Best wishes, Joanne McIntyre Editor-in-Chief of Stainless Steel World j. mcintyre @ kci-world. com
