By day, the facade subtly mirrors the surrounding environment, responding to changing light and movement; by night, an integrated LED system bathes the stadium in color, transforming it into a glowing landmark. The transformation of the Bernabéu Stadium, driven by ambitious financial planning and achieved with engineering ingenuity and highperformance materials, has been widely acclaimed. Since its completion in 2024, it has hosted Champions League celebrations, Taylor Swift concerts, and even Spain’ s first NFL game. Much of this engineering was predicated on molybdenum-containing alloys; the project could not be realized without them.

Type 316 stainless steel with 2 % molybdenum was chosen for its modern aesthetic and excellent corrosion performance. Beyond its visual impact, the façade provides technical functionality. It admits natural light and fresh air according to the needs of each interior space, thanks to the slats’ precisely calculated curvature, spacing, and angle. More than 13,000 unique elements, some up to 8.5 meters long, were fabricated using a parametric design system that enabled digital modeling and efficient production.
