Welcome to our annual focus issue for the chemical and petrochemical industries.
In his feature article, David Sear explains that the chemical and petrochemical industries are fundamental to modern society, delivering( raw) materials essential for transport, construction, pharmaceuticals, plastics, fertilisers, electronics, etc. Yet many manufacturers are facing increasingly harsh realities, such as falling demand, production overcapacity, high energy prices, tariffs, and supply chain disruption. Be that as it may, project announcements as well as research to improve materials performance are ongoing. There are opportunities for the stainless steel industry in this sector.
Our cover story this month features Eraum Alloy, a rapidly rising player in Chia’ s nickel-based and high-end alloy industry. The company has a firm focus on the high-end alloy niche segments, investing heavily in the latest technology to produce top-quality materials. This includes its world-leading unmanned‘ lights-out‘ factory – read about this from page 8.
I’ m thrilled to highlight this year’ s Stainless Steel World Americas conference & expo in this issue. This long-awaited return of this event to Houston, Texas, takes place on 9 & 10 November. With a focus on bringing the entire supply chain to one location, both the conference and expo will unite both local and international companies and experts for two days of business, networking and learning. Read more from page 23.
This month we also look back at the highly successful Duplex World conference & expo which took place in May. It was two days packed with duplex-focused discussions and learning, and this niche event once again delivered high-quality presentations from an international group of speakers.
