Xiris unveils SeamMonitor system
Xiris Automation has announced the launch of SeamMonitor™ , a camera-based measurement tool that provides real-time monitoring of the torch tip-to-weld seam alignment and weld seam size on Tungsten Inert Gas ( TIG ) welded tube mills . Metal tube fabricators who use TIG welding know that precise alignment of the welding torch to the welding seam is critical to achieving high-quality welds with clean edges and minimal weld bead . Xiris has enhanced its SeamMonitor™ system , which provides a robust solution to monitor tip-to-weld seam alignment on TIG Tube mills . The SeamMonitor™ combines a high dynamic range ( HDR ) weld camera that can clearly capture the torch , weld arc , and surrounding environment with powerful machine vision measurement software that enables real-time monitoring of the weld seam size , torch tip location , and relative offset between the torch tip and its seam .

The ultra-low energy design allows heat supplied as highpressure steam to be used three times instead of two , reducing steam consumption by about 35 % and cooling water consumption by about 16 % compared to traditional CO2 stripping processes , as demonstrated in two plants currently in operation .

A Citizen Cincom L32-XIILFVR is being delivered to the dealer . The top-specification sliding-head lathe has nine CNC axes , including a Y2 axis on the back tool post and + 90 / −45 degree B-axis swivel on the front gang tool post to enable angled holes to be drilled at either spindle . The model will also have low-frequency vibration functionality for advanced chipbreaking of materials that normally generate stringy swarf .
