EMA and KOGAS to explore joint LNG purchases
ONGC has issued a tender seeking manufacturers and service providers to set up these small-scale LNG plants on a build , own , and operate basis . The identified locations include two sites in Rajahmundry , Andhra Pradesh , and one each in Ankleshwar , Gujarat , Bokaro , Jharkhand , and Cambay , Gujarat . The LNG produced will be transported within 250 km to consumption sites , where it will be regasified and injected into the existing gas distribution grids or supplied directly to bulk consumers .
Raccortubi opens a warehouse in Sharjah
Singapore ’ s Energy Market Authority ( EMA ) and South Korean state-backed Korea Gas Corp . ( KOGAS ) have signed a deal to explore potential joint purchases of liquefied natural gas ( LNG ). Under the memorandum of understanding ( MOU ), the Southeast Asian city-state hopes to learn from major LNG importer South Korea about the procurement and management of LNG supply . Singapore plans to meet all its gas needs by LNG . Singapore plans to build a second LNG terminal after the onshore facility on Jurong Island , which started operation in 2013 and has an annual average capacity of approximately nine million metric tons per annum ( MMtpa ). SLNG said it was considering a floating storage and regasification unit for its second terminal . The new project , targeted to have a capacity of five MMtpa , is planned to be put online by 2030 .
ONGC to setup mini-LNG plants
Raccortubi has opened a 20,000-sq-ft warehouse within Hamriyah Free Zone Authority ( HFZA ) in Sharjah as part of its regional expansion strategy . A subsidiary of Italian multinational Commerciale Tubi Acciaio , Raccortubi has been operating in the UAE since 2013 . It is a global player in the production of pipes and fittings in stainless steel , duplex , super duplex , Ni alloy , and titanium . The new AED 25M ( USD 6.8M ) facility is set to support oil and gas projects in the region , thus leveraging its advanced infrastructure and strategic location to reach a global market . The warehouse and its state-of-the-art logistics operations and advanced transportation equipment are designed to optimise efficiency in the storage and distribution of the company ’ s products . This showcases the diversity of foreign investments that Hamriyah Free Zone actively seeks to attract with the integrated package of services along with its strategic location and comprehensive logistics .
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC ) is planning to set up mini-LNG plants to extract and transport natural gas from wells situated in areas without pipeline connections . These mini plants will convert gas pumped from underground into liquefied natural gas ( LNG ), which will then be transported by cryogenic trucks to the nearest pipelines . Once there , it will be reconverted into gas and distributed to users , including power plants , fertiliser units , and city gas retailers .
Canada Nickel appoints Julian Ovens to its Board
Canada Nickel Company Inc . has appointed Mr Julian Ovens to its Board of Directors . Ovens is a Partner and owner at Crestview Strategy and a Director of the Canadian Commercial Corporation ( CCC ). He previously worked at BHP , most recently as Head of Strategy & Development , Potash , in Saskatoon . Before that , he was Project Director , Iron Ore Africa , Minerals Exploration based in Singapore . Julian also worked in corporate Mergers & Acquisitions at ( Rio Tinto ) Alcan in Montreal and Paris . He began his finance career in investment banking in Global Metals & Mining at Credit Suisse First Boston ( now UBS ) in Toronto .
