Prof . Thomas Böllinghaus elected as President of IIW
Prof . Dr . -Ing . Thomas Böllinghaus from the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung ( BAM ) is the new President of the International Institute of Welding ( IIW ).

Prof . Böllinghaus , who heads the Department of Component Safety at BAM and has conducted intensive research on various aspects of welding technology , wants to achieve an even more intensive connection of research and development with training and teaching in the IIW during his three-year term of office . In addition , he plans to internationalise the IIW on a broader basis , especially in Africa and South America .
Williamson named LME Chairman
The London Metal Exchange ( LME ) has announced that John Williamson will become the LME ’ s Chairman under a new fixed-term

contract through 28 April 2026 . John Williamson was appointed Interim Chairman of the London Metal Exchange in April 2023 . He is Chairman of the UK Tote Group and an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Pacific Basin Shipping Limited . He is a Chartered Accountant , a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute , and a Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Securities Institute . He was formerly an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of HKEX and has previously served on the Boards of the Hong Kong Securities Institute and several other private companies . Mr Williamson has worked within the finance and securities industry for over 40 years and has deep expertise across commerce , investment banking , etc .
Outokumpu appointments in Alabama

Outokumpu has conducted a feasibility study to explore options to increase its existing cold-rolling capacity and investigate different options for its hotrolling arrangements in Calvert , Alabama . Outokumpu has now appointed two key people to drive the program further . Michael Tecza has been appointed as Project Director . He is joining from Intel and has an extensive background in large capital investment projects across the globe . Prior to Intel , Michael Tecza led also several capital investment projects for BCG and McKinsey . Hugh Embrey has been appointed as Technical Project Director , leading and supervising the technical implementation of Outokumpu ’ s selected equipment . He has an exceptional background in steel-rolling investment projects .

Mr Haibach has more than 15 years Hasso Haibach of experience in managing companies in the steel and metals industry and a recognised expert in corporate development with a focus on sales and operational excellence . Before joining Becker , Hasso Haibach held numerous management positions . Most recently , he worked as Managing Director at Timken Germany GmbH , where his responsibilities included supply chain management and new business development . Before that , he was Managing Director at Altenloh , Brinck & Co - Umformtechnik , responsible for two subsidiaries in Germany and France .
