Sun , smiles and stainless ; PacRim Stainless 2023 a great success !
Organised for its members by the Australian Stainless Steel Development Association ( ASSDA ), the annual PacRim Stainless conference brings together leading companies in the country ’ s stainless industry for two days of networking and fun .

Held in the QT hotel in Surfers Paradise , Queensland , on 18 & 19 October , the 2023 PacRim Stainless conference brought together Australia ’ s stainless steel industry and colleagues from abroad in an exclusive networking environment . Two half-day conference sessions offered a stellar lineup of speakers to share their experience , expertise in new trends and technologies , and perspectives on global and local stainless steel market direction .
The event was kicked off by business futurist and innovation expert Craig Rispin . Delegates found his presentation equally fascinating and disturbing as he outlined the rapid growth of technologies such as artificial intelligence and what this could mean for our business and lives . He was followed by Des Watkins from Watkins Steel , who gave an enlightening demonstration on digital transformation practices . Des provided practical examples such as holographic twins and the everyday use of virtual reality in his day-to-day business in the construction and steel fabrication industry .
