Outokumpu recognised in Clean200 list Jindal develops stainless railway containers
Outokumpu has once again been included in the prestigious Clean200 ranking by Corporate Knights, reaffirming its position as a pioneer in sustainable materials and circular economy. The Clean200 ranking highlights the world’ s 200 publicly traded companies generating the highest share of revenues from sustainable products and services. In the 2026 edition, Outokumpu secured position # 86 globally, maintaining its strong standing among the world’ s most sustainable companies. Outokumpu’ s stainless steel is produced with up to 75 % lower carbon footprint than global average due to high use of circular materials and access to own low-emission chromium.
Jindal Stainless has developed the country’ s first stainless steel container for salt transport for Indian Railways. The integration of stainless steel into salt transport logistics marks a pioneering step towards more durable and sustainable freight operations. The prototype successfully underwent loading and unloading trials at Bhimasar, Gandhidham, Gujarat, underscoring the government’ s active engagement with innovative, future-ready logistics solutions and signalling an important step towards potential commercial adoption. Jindal Stainless has used stainless steel grade 304, known for its superior corrosion resistance in chloride-rich environments, for the container body, while JT Grade( N7 as per BIS 6911), recognised for its high strength and weight optimisation, has been deployed for external stiffeners and underframe components.
