Duplex & superduplex steel for marine pumps
Modern marine installations place significantly higher demands on the materials used in pumps and ejectors. Aggressive media such as seawater, chlorides, alkaline scrubber liquids, and high temperatures challenge classical alloys more than ever, especially in closed systems where process water is recirculated and becomes increasingly concentrated. To meet these conditions, IRON Pump is increasingly introducing stainless duplex and super duplex steel into a range of components. These materials offer technical advantages in corrosion resistance, strength, lifespan, and weight optimisation, without replacing bronze in applications where it remains the most optimal solution. The transition strengthens the robustness of modern maritime systems and supports more efficient and sustainable operation.

Duplex and super duplex alloys provide significantly higher resistance to pitting, chloride-induced corrosion, crevice corrosion, and erosion compared with copper-based alloys. The high tensile strength of duplex and super duplex allows for reduced wall thickness while maintaining mechanical robustness.
Bodycote adds S ³ P ADM ® surface hardening to US services
Surface treatment specialist Bodycote has announced the addition of S ³ P ADM ®( Austenitic, Duplex, Martensitic) to its range of services in the United States, expanding the company’ s Speciality Stainless Steel Processes( S ³ P) portfolio and bringing advanced stainless steel surface hardening capability closer to North American customers. The new US capability helps reduce transportation costs and tariff exposure for North American customers, while strengthening Bodycote’ s global S ³ P network and adding operational resilience across its facilities. The investment in ADM marks a significant expansion of Bodycote’ s S ³ P offering at its facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. The new treatment vessel can accommodate components up to 79 inches( 2 metres) in length and 47 inches( 1.2 metres) in width, enabling the surface hardening of larger and heavier stainless steel parts than previously possible in North America in industries such as oil and gas, food and beverage, and medical technology.

Custom Pipe & Fabrication has officially acquired ProFab Corporation, a Lubbock, Texas – based fabricator specialising in stainless steel and carbon steel pump components. For more than 40 years, ProFab has supported pump manufacturers with precision fabrication, machining, and custom-built components across municipal and industrial markets. This acquisition expands Custom Pipe’ s capabilities in carbon steel, stainless steel( including 304 / 316), and duplex alloys- while increasing operational capacity and responsiveness nationwide. Together, the combined expertise strengthens our ability to deliver precision-fabricated pump components with greater speed, scale, and reliability.
