Klöckner & Co supplies GEA with CO2- reduced stainless steel
Klöckner & Co will be the first supplier of CO2-reduced stainless steel for the technology group GEA . The coil will be delivered to the GEA production site in Bönen ( NRW ) via Klöckner & Co ’ s German subsidiary Becker Stainless . Among other things , the material is being used there as part of a pilot project for more sustainable milking technology production . The coil of the Klöckner brand Nexigen ® for CO2-reduced products and services has a carbon footprint that is around 90 % lower than that of conventional stainless steel . This places it in the “ Pro ” category of Klöckner & Co ’ s specifically developed Nexigen ® product categorization for CO2-reduced stainless steel . This means that the emissions per metric ton of stainless steel from raw material extraction to production and delivery are less than 700 kg of CO2 ( taking Scope 1 to Scope 3 into account ). GEA also receives a Product Carbon Footprint Declaration with the delivery . It determines the exact emissions per kilogram that were generated from the resource extraction and production to processing and transportation to the plant gate ( Cradle to Customer Entry Gate ).
Cambro acquires custom stainless steel manufacturer
Cambro Manufacturing , a maker of food storage and transportation products , has acquired Nationwide Fabrication , a provider of custom stainless steel and millwork fabricated commercial food service equipment . Nationwide Fabrication offers equipment for hospitals , restaurants , correctional facilities , schools , stadiums , and corporate and assisted living facilities across the United States . According to Cambro , the synergy between both companies ’ product offerings and their mutual interest in the food service industry make for the “ perfect combination .” “ With the acquisition , we add another American manufacturing facility to our family ,” the company said in the announcement . Nationwide Fabrication ’ s 75,000-square-foot facility , which employs more than 65 skilled employees in Northglenn , Colorado , will join Cambro ’ s other manufacturing facilities and warehouses in Huntington Beach , California , and Mebane , North Carolina . Nationwide Fabrication ’ s founder , Adam Martinez , will remain in a leadership role following the acquisition . “ We ’ re excited to partner with Nationwide Fab and happy that Adam will be continuing to lead operational activities ,” said Argyle Campbell , president and CEO of Cambro Manufacturing . “ I believe there are a lot of opportunities for both companies going forward .”
Nantong Xiangyu to build methanol-ready bulker octet
Chinese shipbuilding company Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has received a contract to build eight methanol-ready bulk carriers for compatriot Xiamen Financial Leasing and Cosco Shipping Bulk . As disclosed , the partners recently signed the contract for the construction of eight bulkers . The eight 64,000 dwt methanol-ready ships will incorporate new ship materials and technologies and will be able to use methanol fuel in the future . Compared with similar ships , they will have larger load capacity , lower fuel consumption , and more fuel efficiency , according to Nantong Xiangyu . The companies hope that the collaboration will combine advantages in the fields of ship construction , financing , ship operation , and management . Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering currently has more than 100 Ultramax ships on order . The shipbuilder plans to promote the optimization and upgrading of next-generation bulk carriers in the future , as well as to invest in low-carbon and zero-carbon fuel technologies . To remind , in February this year , Nantong Xiangyu secured an order to build six 38,000 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers for NYK Stolt Tankers ( NST ), a joint venture between shipping companies NYK Line and Stolt Tankers . The vessels are designed to maximize fuel efficiency using a wide range of energy savings devices and shore power connections . They can also be retrofitted for battery and methanol propulsion . The tankers are slated for delivery between late 2026 and 2029 .
