Company overview Founded in 1889 under the name Remscheider Walz- und Hammerwerke Böllinghaus & Co . KG , Böllinghaus Steel is a specialist for stainless steel long products , carried on by its fifth generation . According to international standards , the company produces high-quality standard and tailor-made stainless steel profiles . The portfolio includes stainless flat , square , and hexagonal profiles – hot-rolled and cold-drawn . With its decades of experience , the company is a competent partner of the steel industry and has made a name for itself in the production of stainless steel bars . It all started when the butcher Hermann Böllinghaus recognized the signs of the times and used his finances to build a rolling mill and hammer mill in Remscheid . His partner Johann Ludwig Härtel provided the required know-how . Hermann Böllinghaus died in 1912 and from then on the Härtel family took over the business . Today , the company is run by the Härtel family . The high-quality stainless steel profiles are characterised by a wide range of applications . Böllinghaus Steel serves customers from various industries such as aerospace , oil and gas , mechanical and plant engineering , energy technology , shipping and medical technology . Established over more than 130 years ago , today it is a highly specialised and globally active company with more than 250 employees in Germany , Portugal , the USA and Italy . Since 1996 , Böllinghaus Steel has been producing in Portugal according to international standards and supplying its customers worldwide from here . This year , the company celebrates its 25-year anniversary at the location .
