wire & Tube 2026: A week of innovation

From 13-17 April, the exhibition grounds in Düsseldorf, Germany hosted more than 2,700 exhibitors from more than 65 countries, spread across roughly 120,000 m ² of space. The scale alone made it clear that, despite economic uncertainty in parts of the world, the wire and tube sectors remain highly active and internationally connected.

Walking through the halls, the coexistence of wire with Tube felt both logical and increasingly interconnected. The distinction between the two remains clear in principle: wire focusing on cables, drawing, and electrical infrastructure; Tube on pipes, forming, and processing technologies. In practice, however, the overlap is becoming more visible, particularly in areas such as materials development, automation, and end-use applications in energy and construction.
Attendance appeared steady throughout the week, with a consistently international mix of visitors. Conversations on the stands suggested that many attendees had come with specific technical or commercial questions rather than general curiosity. This contributed to an atmosphere that felt more focused than promotional.
Industry themes: Progress over hype One noticeable aspect of the 2026 edition was the tone of the discussions. Rather than bold claims or disruptive announcements, many exhibitors presented incremental improvements: refinements in efficiency, reliability, and

process control. Automation and digital monitoring systems were widely present but often framed as practical tools rather than transformative breakthroughs. This more measured approach gave the impression of an industry consolidating progress made in recent years.
Sustainability was another recurring theme, though again in a pragmatic sense. Exhibitors frequently referred to energy efficiency, material optimization, and longer product lifecycles. In the Tube halls in particular, there was a clear emphasis on applications linked to the energy transition, including hydrogen and renewable infrastructure. Stainless steel naturally featured in these discussions, especially where corrosion resistance and durability are critical, although the focus remained on performance requirements rather than broader environmental narratives.
