Chairman of the Stainless Steel World Conference 2023
Welcome !
In a world with many geopolitical , health and energy-related challenges , I am grateful that we can come together to do what we like best : engage and discuss technical solutions that will hopefully help to address some of these challenges . KCI Publishing and the Steering Committee have once again organised a fantastic event ! Each day starts with plenary lectures addressing global , broader aspects of the stainless steel industry . These lectures will provide food for thought as to how crucial end-user markets and the stainless steel industry will develop in the near future . Interactive workshops and technical sessions are to follow , focusing on more hands-on topics , like welding , corrosion , and duplex , as well as new developments in additive manufacturing and stainless steel applications . I am particularly happy with our new Sustainability Day , which shows that decarbonisation and hydrogen applications are very much happening here and now .
Apart from the technical program , there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow delegates and presenters . After all , the Stainless Steel World Conference is an excellent networking event , designed to meet up with old acquaintances or come into contact with new members of the global stainless steel community .
I would like to thank each member of the Steering Committee . It is a great pleasure working with you , and your energy , time and expertise have resulted in a high-quality and varied conference programme . I would also like to thank our sponsors who are key to this event and contribute so much to the quality of the conference as well as the exhibition . And as always , we will be hosted at the MECC in Maastricht . A fantastic location with ample room for technical exchanges , seeing the latest and greatest in the exhibition hall , and networking opportunities . Don ’ t forget to join us at the Stainless Steel World Dinner Show on Wednesday evening !
