Those Eyes
---- Sohini Sengupta Sardar
Have I ever told you dearest
how much I love your eyes?
Like two stars, twinkling and bold,
brilliantly shining in the skies.
When I first gazed into ‘em
I thought I saw your soul.
So passionate and so warm,
so untouched and whole.
And now when I see them again
I know I was right.
For they utter about our love
always, beaming and bright!
I would lie if I say, my love
that now I don’t feel the shiver
When those eyes pierce through my heart,
deep inside I quiver.
The eyes that I had looked for
were then not very far away,
I felt a chill run down my spine,
not knowing what to say.
Yes, I was a bit scared
of facing that incredible force.
For moments I stood astound not connecting my eyes to yours.
I drown in those eyes infinite times,
I find the roads to travel,
I see us ever holding hands
and watch our lives unravel.
So when I then met your eyes,
you already stole my heart.
I was no longer frightened
and out of my rampart.
I tried to peep into those eyes
to read your every thought.
I could see and I could feel
the every pain you had brought.
There was no hiding behind your eyes,
they were speaking to me.
So I wished to rip off those aches
and show you what I see.
I saw our love grow each day,
with every passing weather.
Those eyes still looking at me,
promising to stay forever.
