with St Vincent,s
A BIG thank you for a BIG
cheque from St Robert’s Church
Local parishes give the gift of hope to
families across Leeds during Lent.
St Joseph’s in Wetherby held a Giving Tree in the church
porch, the tree had requests for support hanging on the
branches which were taken and fulfilled by members of
the parish. Parishioners generously gave money, food and
other items as well as practical support for the centre’s
activities.
St Robert’s church in Harrogate raised funds to refurbish
the St Vincent’s community café. The café carries out
invaluable work, providing volunteer placements and
work experience, offering a friendly and social space
for volunteers, students and the local community and of
course providing healthy food options at reasonable prices.
We are all looking forward to the work beginning on the
much needed revamp!
Huge thanks to all in both parishes, including our friends in
the local SVP conferences for their help, and to all others
who gave so generously during Lent.

supporter pack for inspiration and information.
St Vincent’s volunteers and students have
had an action-packed few weeks!
The end of term party celebrated another term of
learning for students from all St Vincent’s classes, from
receiving certificates recognising their hard work and
progress. Volunteers enjoyed their own celebration
at the annual volunteer award ceremony, with drinks,
music and awards to celebrate their achievements.
Volunteers and students visited the countryside in two
exciting trips. A walking trip to Malham gave English
students the chance to learn new words, practice their
English and get out of Leeds, some for the first time
Ralph, a student and volunteer from DR Congo said:
“We enjoyed the visit because it allowed us to know a
bit more history from this part of England. I would like
to come back and see what it is like in other seasons.”
Students and volunteers also got to grips with country
life on a lambing trip in the dales!
