Education in Leeds Needs You
Lizzie Watson found help,
hope and opportunity at
St Vincent’s thanks to the
education department and
the free classes St Vincent’s
provides.
“Be who you are and be
proud of who you are
and go for your dreams.
That’s what I’ve learned
at St Vincent’s.”
Lizzie began volunteering and studying
at St Vincent’s following the death of
her mother three years ago. In that time,
Lizzie’s involvement with St Vincent’s has
had a life changing impact on her.
“Volunteering at St Vincent’s and doing
courses has meant everything to me.
The courses and volunteering I’ve taken
on have made me believe more in myself.
Anything’s possible if you put your mind
to it, no matter what your problems
are, if it’s a disability, depression, debt,
anything, don’t let it beat you.”
Lizzie is now volunteering with the
fundraising department at St Vincent’s
and helping others in Leeds to access
help and opportunities through
volunteering and education.
“If I wasn’t a volunteer or student, I
would donate money. There are people
in Leeds that really need help. There are
people that can’t read, that can’t write
and that don’t have the money to get
taught.
All people need to do is pick up the
phone and St Vincent’s can help.
So it is really important for people to
donate. I know that the community has
it really tight financially, but if you can
spare just 50p it would help.
