French Language Assistant

We were very fortunate this year at St. Paul’s to have been successful in our application for a Foreign Language Assistant.

Léa Chouin joined the French Department at the end of Oct and has been an invaluable addition ever since. Our students have benefited greatly from his scheme. Léa has helped me with my work o see a foreign language as a living language and not just a “school language”.

She has enriched the teaching programme and has introduced our students to the culture of France through a variety of activities and games.

She worked with 3rd year students in small groups to help them with their written work in preparation for their upcoming JC exam.

Our 6th year students had significant support from Léa in preparation for their oral exam which they completed on 20th April.

.Having a language assistant has undoubtedly been of huge benefit to all students studying French this year, the extra help and consolidation has been evident in their grades.

students studying French this year, the extra help and consolidation has been evident in their grades. Their confidence and willingness to speak French has noticeably improved. They enjoy their classes with Léa and look forward to working with her. Without a doubt having a language assistant has helped raise the profile of languages in our school and we recognise the contribution Léa has made to the French department at St. Paul’s this year. She will be greatly missed when she leaves at the end of May.

European Day of Languages

26th September 2017

A day we celebrate to mark the various languages spoken in Europe. Transition year students designed posters in different languages & decorated the hall. Croissants & pains au chocolat were prepared by LCA students and served during break time for everyone. A quiz was held in the library at lunchtime which was a resounding success
