BURNS SUPPER If there had been a “wee, sleekit, cow’rin, tim’rous beastie” sheltering in St Oswald’s it would have heard the skirl of the pipes while the haggis was piped in and addressed with gusto by George Anderson. After Grace by Bishop Gregor an excellent and appropriately Scottish meal was enjoyed by all. The speakers and entertaining artistes did us proud – our own Lesley-Ann, Inez and Anne and visitors Mark Sherland and Tony Capaldi. The inclement weather reduced our numbers but “the best laid schemes o’mice and men gang aft agley”. Thank you to all including the hard- working kitchen staff Emily, Iona, Carol- Ann and Matt. Dorothy Nicholson News From: Scottish Episcopal Institute Vocations Sunday Letter received by St Oswald’s regarding Vocation Sunday. Eight congregations in the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway and four others across the Province have responded to the invitation in recent Newsletters to invite a Lay Reader candidate or ordinand to preach on Vocations Sunday, 22 April 2018, about God’s call to them and what it means. Dear Rev Lesley-ann, I am delighted to say that Mr Peter Woodifield, second-year NSM ordinand from the Diocese of Edinburgh, would like to take up St Oswald’s kind invitation to come and preach on Vocations Sunday 2018, April 22 nd . This is a great response and we look forward to hearing from those congregations and students afterwards. Regards Canon Anne Tomlinson Gill Reynolds Principal Scottish Episcopal Institute 7
