Sadly, we can be less proud of the fact that most of us wander around our native city without even noticing some of the features that others travel for thousands of miles to see! An example of this was the image included in our December/January issue as party of the “Where/What am I” feature. Many Glaswegians have travelled to the beautiful city of Barcelona. Football fans to marvel at their star- studied equivalent of Partick Thistle and students of architecture to view the magnificent, if unfinished, Gaudi Sagrada Familia. One suspects that rather less have made the shorter journey to Howard Street to see an example of the work of Josep Maria Subirachs 1927 – 2014. A Spanish sculptor and painter of the late 20th century, his best known work is probably the Passion Facade of the basilica of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. His somewhat unnerving carving on the building bearing his name is, however, well worth a look the next time you are in the vicinity of the St Enoch Centre. 14
